1. HEAD TO THE BEACH

Each of the beautiful beaches on our doorstep has a charm and character of its own. Whether you’re after sweeping stretches of golden sand or the intimate hideaway found at a secluded cove, Dorset is sure to have just the spot. There are also plenty of dog-friendly beaches near Lyme Regis.

Blessed with beautiful scenery, our coastline is also home to some serene bathing waters. Take a rejuvenating dip in the sea, a coastal wall in Lyme Regis, or get active in a range of watersports. 2. EXPLORE THE JURASSIC COAST

The Jurassic Coast runs along 95 miles of coastline from Dorset to East Devon and reveals a ‘walk through time’ spanning 185 million years of life on Earth. 

Trace the footsteps of the dinosaurs and go fossil hunting where you’ll be able to capture your very own slice of history. Such a vast collection of rock types makes for some mind-boggling geology and the landscape is just as scenic as it is significant.

 

 

  

3. STEP BACK IN TIME

Lyme Regis Museum boasts a rich collection of thought-provoking displays that bring the local history to life. With the area famous for its fossils, it’s no surprise that you’ll get up close to some of the finest discoveries of all and learn about the fascinating creatures that once roamed here. Maritime and domestic curiosities, together with paintings and photographs, are also on display. 

The museum hosts regular fossil walks throughout the day. Running for approximately three hours, you’ll gain expert insight into the history and geology of the region while collecting your own fossils to take home.

 

 

  

  

4. TAKE TO THE BAY BY BOAT

Head to the pontoon at the end of The Cobb where you’ll find Lyme RIB Rides. This go-to hub for taking to the water offers both fast and slower-paced boat trips that are suitable for the whole family and large groups. There’s no better way to see the Jurassic Coast than by marvelling at the cliffs from the ocean. Boat charters, bespoke trips, and water taxi rides are also available.

 

 

   

5. WANDER THE TREETOPS

Navigate the treetops at this adrenaline-pumping adventure course that puts you on top of the world. You’ll need a head for heights, but this bird’s eye experience is suitable for the whole family, daring couples, and groups alike.
