Explore Lyme Regis

Stunning seascapes and endless beautiful backdrops

It’s hard to paint a more tranquil location than where The Rock Point calls home. Settled on the harbour of Lyme Regis, known by many as ‘The Pearl of Dorset’, our breathtaking panorama is just the start of what this vibrant patch of the south coast has to offer.

The inn’s 18th-century walls are adorned by mod cons, much like the surroundings. History seeps from the nearby cliffs, where the Jurassic Coast tells the tales of magical, bygone eras. The bay itself offers plenty of fun and excitement, with further thrills found to be inland. Here are some of the best things to see and do during your visit.

Paddleboards waiting on the edge of the shore

Hit the Beach

Each of the beautiful beaches on our doorstep has a charm and character of its own. Whether you’re after sweeping stretches of golden sand or the intimate hideaway found at a secluded cove, Dorset is sure to have just the spot.

Blessed with beautiful scenery, our coastline is also home to some serene bathing waters. Take a rejuvenating dip in the sea or get active in a range of watersports. You’ll find hire facilities on Lyme Regis seafront for stand up paddleboards, with lessons also available.

Explore the Jurassic Coast

The Jurassic Coast runs along 95 miles of coastline from Dorset to East Devon and reveals a ‘walk through time’ spanning 185 million years of life on Earth.

Trace the footsteps of the dinosaurs and go fossil hunting where you’ll be able to capture your very own slice of history. Such a vast collection of rock types makes for some mind-boggling geology and the landscape is just as scenic as it is significant.

With the area famous for its fossils, it’s no surprise that you’ll get up close to some of the finest discoveries of all and learn about the fascinating creatures that once roamed here. Maritime and domestic curiosities, together with paintings and photographs, are also on display.

The museum hosts regular fossil walks throughout the day. Running for approximately three hours, you’ll gain expert insight into the history and geology of the region while collecting your own fossils to take home.

Take to the Bay by Boat

Head to the pontoon at the end of The Cobb where you’ll find Lyme RIB Rides. This go-to hub for taking to the water offers both fast and slower-paced boat trips that are suitable for the whole family and large groups.
